I don't know about you, but I bloody LOVE a podcast.

As an academia enthusiast, I've been stunned at how much you can learn from them; as a lover of comedy, getting what are essentially daily stand up shows in my living room has brightened my life; and of course, my true crime obsessed heart has never been so full!

Podcasts have become powerful platforms for sharing real stories and life experiences, amplifying voices, and starting meaningful and overdue conversations.

So, in celebration of Pride Month, let's explore some LGBTQIA+ podcasts that are creating spaces for unheard voices, promoting understanding, and inspiring change. Plus, for my true crime loving friends, I'll be sharing some of my favourite LGBTQIA+ inclusive true crime podcasts!

Now, as I said, we can't talk about podcasts without talking about the true crime phenomenon. If I'm not mistaken, there are more true crime podcasts out there than any other type of podcast. We all love murder, and isn't that just lovely with a sprinkling of weird?! As a long time fan of tragic tales, true crime was my gate way into the podcast world, as the hosts so often create a vibrant community that embraces the LGBTQIA+ community. So, here are a few of my favourites:

True Crime Obsessed

This podcast takes a unique approach to true crime by adding a huge touch of humour, queer joy, and commentary. The hosts discuss and review true crime documentaries and shows, providing their entertaining and often humorous insights into the cases and the media portrayals.

My Favorite Murder

Hosted by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, this popular podcast combines true crime storytelling with a dose of humour. The hosts share their 'favourite' murder cases, discuss the details, and engage with their enthusiastic and dedicated fanbase of 'murderinos'. Karen and Georgia often are always fundraising for charity through their online store and with personal donations, many of which go to LGBTQIA+ causes.

Criminal

This podcast tells stories of crime from a unique and diverse perspective. With each episode, host Phoebe Judge focuses on a different crime or criminal, featuring interviews, archival recordings, and expert insights. The podcast aims to explore the human side of crime, delving into the motivations, consequences, and societal impact of criminal activities, many of which affect the LGBTQIA+ community.

As we celebrate Pride Month, let's tune in to these podcasts and support LGBTQIA+ creators who are using their platforms to uplift unheard voices, challenge stereotypes, and foster understanding. By engaging with these conversations, we can become better allies and contribute to a more inclusive and accepting world.
